The quarterback line was not the whole score
K’saan Farrar completed 26 of 41 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns without an interception at Texas State on October 15. Eleven Colorado State players caught a pass. The Rams nevertheless lost 66–27, leaving a productive passing stretch inside a result that demanded much more from the entire team.
The distinct offensive question is where those completions led. Colorado State gained 430 yards and committed no turnovers, yet converted only four of fifteen third downs and two of five fourth downs. The offense could create gains without consistently obtaining the next chance to use them.
The scoring drives showed a different version
Three 75-yard touchdown possessions across the late second and early third quarters supplied examples of what worked. Nader Chirchi caught a 21-yard touchdown, Durell Robinson scored from a yard out, and Terrence Smith Jr. added a 37-yard touchdown reception. The last of those scores cut the deficit to 45–27 before Texas State answered.
Jackson Harper’s five catches produced 91 yards, while Tommy Maher’s four yielded 66. Farrar also rushed six times for 26 yards in his third straight start. These were multiple sources of progress, not one receiving play stretched into a claim that the offense had solved everything.
Keep the distribution, improve the conversion
Colorado State is 2–4 overall and 0–2 in the Pac-12, with San Diego State visiting October 24. Coach Jim Mora praised Farrar’s leadership and competitive response, but the available reporting does not turn that praise into a permanent quarterback announcement.
The next useful step is making the varied receiving work support more attainable late downs. A first-down gain to one target can matter because it reduces what the following play must accomplish, not because every receiver needs a predetermined share. Farrar showed he could distribute the ball without giving it away. The Rams need that development to finish more drives and keep their defense off the field, rather than remain a promising individual line beside another lopsided final score.
