Gregory gave two Aggie quarterbacks the same scoring destination

The freshman caught touchdowns from Reed and Hart. Alabama will ask whether that growing role can hold up against a different defensive standard.

Texas A&M receiver Aaron Gregory reaches for a pass against The Citadel on October 17, 2026

The quarterback changed; the receiver remained available

Aaron Gregory caught a 37-yard touchdown from Marcel Reed in the second quarter against The Citadel. In the fourth, Brady Hart found him for a twelve-yard score. Texas A&M’s freshman receiver finished with six catches for 94 yards in the 41–0 win on October 17.

Gregory became the first Aggie freshman with multiple receiving touchdowns in a game since Ashton Bethel-Roman against Samford in 2025. More immediately, he supplied useful production through a change at quarterback instead of belonging to only one part of the afternoon.

A growing role needs more than one preferred throw

Reed completed eight of thirteen passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. Hart completed eight of twelve for 107 and a score. Neither threw an interception. Mike Elko specifically identified Gregory and TK Norman among young players receiving more work in his October 19 comments.

The next value in Gregory’s role is dependability across the operation: the correct route, a clear arrival point and enough adjustment when the defense takes away the first opening. Two quarterbacks finding him does not establish that every detail is settled. It does show that his involvement can survive a personnel change, a useful quality for an offense still building its best combinations.

Alabama provides a different test of the same work

Texas A&M gained 501 total yards, with freshmen and sophomores contributing 463 of them. KJ Edwards rushed thirteen times for 116 yards. The Aggies improved to 4–3 overall, with their SEC record still 1–3.

A trip to No. 13 Alabama on October 24 changes the context sharply. Production against The Citadel cannot responsibly be used to declare the conference problems repaired. It can identify which young contributions deserve another meaningful opportunity.

Gregory’s two scores give the passing game a specific reason to keep developing that opportunity. The aim should not be reproducing a comfortable nonconference afternoon snap for snap. It should be retaining the assignment quality that lets a receiver remain useful when space becomes harder to find. Saturday widened the evidence around him; Alabama will test how far that evidence travels.
